An accident means a sudden, unforeseen and involuntary event caused by external, visible and violent means.

You should buy a personal accident policy because it plugs an important hole in your insurance portfolio. Firstly, it will provide financial support to the policyholder if he is disabled after an accident. Secondly, the magnitude of the mishap doesn't matter; even minor ones like falling off a bicycle and breaking an arm, or fracturing a leg while playing football are covered by the policy.

A comprehensive personal accident insurance allows you and your family to be financially secure, after an unforeseen event.

A standalone personal accident policy covers you and your family for accidental death, permanent disability and loss of income. But many a times you remain unprotected for partial disability, ambulance cover, orphan benefit, funeral expenses cover and many more risks.

Coverage towards accidental death or disablement is provided under three plan options as:

Optional Covers as specified below can be chosen to supplement coverage under Plan A, B or C.

Policy covers permanent total disablement of eyes, hands, feet, loss of hearing and loss of speech due to accident

Policy covers permanent partial disablement of eye, hand, feet, toes, fingers, loss of hearing and loss of speech due to accident.

Funeral expenses will cover a one-time payment of Rs.5000 for sum insured upto 50 lacs and Rs.10,000 for sum insured above 50 lacs towards funeral or cremation expenses.

Orphan benefit provides an amount equal to sum insured towards dependent child in case of accidental death of parents

On suffering from burns due to accident, policy will pay sum insured minimum 10% and maximum upto 100% depending on the degree of burn

This benefit provides a lump sum payment in the event of fracture of bones due to accident.

Policy will provide 25% of the sum insured as lump sum in the event of suffering from a Coma due to accident.

Accident Care policy covers death occurring due to accidents or accidental injuries only.

Accident Care policy is available for 1, 2 and 3 years only.

Portability is not applicable to personal accident policy.

Yes, foreign nationals working in India for 180 days or more with a valid work permit and passport can opt for Accident Care policy. He/she has to provide a valid communication address in India.

Policy will be issued subject to underwriting review.

The policy can be purchased by a NRI subject to the following criteria being met.

-The proposer/proposed insured person must have an Indian address for communication.

-Proposer must be in India at the time of signing the proposal form.

-Those currently working/settled in India are eligible for cover. For example, NRI/PIO who has returned to India and gainfully employed.

-Coverage may be extended to people based outside of India, subject to medical tests (wherever applicable) being conducted in India only and proposal form being signed in India by the proposer only.

Accidental death and/or disability due to terrorist attacks will be covered under Accident Care policy as per the plan and option selected.

Yes, dependent (non-earning) spouse will be eligible for cover upto 60% of the sum insured (Max sum insured capped at Rs 50 Lacs) of the earning member under family cover.

Accident Care policy covers following relationships - Self, Lawfully Wedded Spouse, Dependent Children, Dependent Parents, Dependent Siblings and Parents in law.

The minimum entry age under this policy is 5 years for children and 18 years for adults. The maximum age at entry is 80 years. The maximum entry for Children age is 25 years.

Policy is renewable for lifetime.

Yes, Accident Care is available as an individual and family basis cover.

Under family basis, members are eligible for cover as a percentage of the earning members sum insured.

Sum Insured is calculated as a maximum of 15 times of gainful annual Income of the Proposer or Earning member to be insured, where the Proposer is not the Insured.

The policy provides lump sum benefit on death, disability and other contingencies under optional cover. The money can be utilized by the insured person as per his/her requirement. Hospitalization benefit is not available in this policy.

Yes, policy covers death or disability due to accident anywhere in the world.

No, hospital daily cash benefit is not available in Accident Care policy.

The Premium for the policy depends on the Plan, Optional Covers, Sum Insured, Premium payment mode and Policy Period.

Premium modes available in the policy are Single, Yearly, Half Yearly, Quarterly, Monthly.

Premium payment mode can only be selected at the inception of the Policy or at the renewal of the Policy. In case of premium payment modes other than Single or Yearly, a loading will be applied on the premium. Loading grid applicable for Half-yearly, Quarterly and Monthly payment mode.

Medical underwriting may be required for persons above 70 years and upto 80 years.

There is no tax benefit for the premium paid towards Accident Care policy.

Few key exclusions under this policy are:

• Any pre-existing condition or disability arising out of pre-existing diseases

• Suicide, intentional self-injury, acts of self-destruction

• Breach of law

• Hazardous Activities

Alteration in sum insured, change in plan and addition/deletion of insured person are allowed at the time of renewal subject to underwriting.

You can place a request for cancellation any time within the policy period. Premium will be refunded on short period basis for Single and annual payment modes. No refund will be processed for cancellation of policies with Premium Payment Mode as Half-yearly, Quarterly or Monthly.

All the covers under the Accident Care policy is available on benefit basis. Cashless facility is not available in this policy.

The below documents are required for all Claims. Documents specific to each benefits are mentioned in 
the prospectus available on our website.
•    Photo Identity Proof - Voter ID, Passport, PAN Card, Driving License, Ration Card, Aadhar,
    or any other proof accepted by the KYC norms as approved by the Company and which is admissible in court of law
•    Duly completed and signed claim form in original as prescribed by Us.
•    Copy of FIR/ Panchnama /Police Inquest Report (if conducted) duly attested by the concerned Police Station;
•    Copy of Medico Legal Certificate(if conducted) duly attested by the concerned Hospital,
•    Income Proof 
    -Last 3 months Salary Slip/Form 16 for salaried persons 
    -Last financial years ITR for self-employed persons 

All claims for Lifestyle Protection-Accident Care to be informed within 10 days of occurrence of the event at a ManipalCigna branch call center or head office.
Submit the dully filled and signed claim form along with the documents mentioned in the claim form within 30 days of occurrence of the event at any of our branches or head office.
